Early and Modern Mode of Transport.

LI: To correctly draw and label a diagram.

Today we were looking at the change of early and the modern mode of transport. We labeled the different parts of one of the land, sea, rail, and air. We also chose to do one of which were the interior, outside, or the engine.

One of the differences between the two early and modern cars were how this the Benz Patent Motor Wagon, was created with wooden seats, which could’ve been uncomfortable to sit in, if someone needed to travel long distances, whereas the Mercedes-Benz vehicle is made with leather seatings.

I enjoyed doing this activity because it was interesting to compare the differences between the two, and how in the early mode of transport, there weren’t a lot of technology included in the cars.

An interesting fact I learnt during this activity was how the the Benz Patent Motor Wagon was one of the first ever cars made.

Title: Attempt New Things & Ask for Help

LI: Students will learn that it’s okay to try new things and to ask for help when needed.

For PB4L, we are reminding ourselves why it is important to attempt to do new things and to ask for help. This session encourages students and people so that they can continue doing what they find interest in or so they can improve their academic performance.

I found this activity joyful becauyse i could motivate someone.

Match Girls Strike of 1888

LI: To identify the significance of the Match Girls Strike of 1888.

Today we had a session with David, our PB4L leader. He was teaching us about the match girls strike of 1888. This Strike of 1888 explains the hardships that the match girls went through, this eventually led to a protest trying to raise awareness for women who don’t get appreciate their hard work by not getting paid

An interesting fact I learnt during this activity was there was a jaw cancer at the match factory.

Provaction – Should Fireworks be banned

LI.To Discuss our learning

Today, we explored another provocation which was ”should we ban fireworks or should we keep them.” Our group had 10 minutes to use our smart searching skills based on what good things fireworks do and, what bad things it can cause, we then listed some notes down. Afterwards, we listed three important things on a google document using our general knowledge and our notes. We then had an extended discussion based on our provocation and having an informed opinion.

An example for it should be ban it can cause damages to the human body such as: Lung damage, Eye damage, . Another example for keeping fireworks used for special occasions for example, Diwali, Guy fawkes, and also for religious celebrations.

Film festival 2022

This week panmure bridge school went to the 2022 film festival at sylvia park. We watched short films from different schools. Some films showed how to be a good person or sports. My favorite movie was poleblade from Ls1 at panmure bridge school. It showed a kid getting bullied but other people and had a pokemon fight but they were spinning. The kid lost but tried and got a david. He won the fight and beat the bullies.

Transportation

LI: To identify the 4 different modes (types) of transport and their changes over time.

The 4 different modes of transport are air, land, sea and rail. We explored more about the types of transportation and how they have evolved over time to build an understanding of how humanity makes changes to vehicles like cars, boats, trains and planes.

An example of air, land, sea and rail based vehicles are air plane, electric car, sailing boat, and steam trains. Most of the vehicles that are used daily carries goods or people to place.

I found this task interesting because I learnt more about the different types vehicles in each category.

Family tree

LI.Communicate about relationships between people.

Family tree shows people who are you ancestors. For this activity we wrote down who my parents mum and dad from both sides. My dad parents are, Tangifetaua and Kaloni.

Silhouette bird Art

LI: To learn how to use tone, blending and different brush strokes with paint.

We have been learning how to corporate tones, blending and brush strokes with our art using paint. We chose a bird that is endemic to New Zealand and researched five facts about them. We chose birds because the New Zealand bird of the year award is going to be announced soon on the 31st of October. We looked through different videos that taught us about the technique used in order to get a nice background.

This activity was joyful because I learned facts about the kiwi and I got to paint.

Narrator Perspective

LI: To rewrite the story of Cinderella using a different narrative perspective.

We have been continuing our learning about the different perspectives authors bring to a text. Our challenge today was to change the fairy tale of Cinderella from third person omniscient to 1st person.

Third person omniscient means the narrator is not a character but observes what everything is happening.  1st person is a character in his/her own story using words such as I, me, and we.

I found this activity interesting because we can use the 5 different perspectives (1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person, 3rd person limited, 3rd person omniscient) when retelling a fairy tale or story.

Different types of perspectives

LI. To notice what types of point of view are used.

This we were learning about the 5 perspectives of the narrator and point of view. There are 5, 1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person, 3rd person omniscient point of view, and 3rd person limited point of view.

We first challege ourselves to write a typical day at school in first, second, third person. First person – I arrived at school and I saw my friends playing touch. We restarted the game and me and my friends scored a team try. Later on the bell rang and we went to class to start our daily routine at school.

This task was challaging because I learnt two more Perspectives.
